Levanto

A Slow Town

A charming seaside town with a history dating back to before the year 1000, Levanto is also known as the "Gateway to the Cinque Terre."

Since the early 1900s, Levanto has been a favorite seaside destination for Italian families and nature lovers.

Its wide beach offers vacationers a wide range of services related to marine and nature activities.

In the summer, a regular boat service runs to the Cinque Terre and Portovenere.
Rental services also offer canoes, pedal boats, and motorboats.

The historic center, with its narrow streets and houses painted with typical Ligurian motifs, is ideal for a relaxing stroll.
It's also worth taking a look at the ancient walls with the clock tower, the 13th-century castle, the medieval loggia where the city parliament met, and the church of Sant'Andrea.

Thanks to the shape of its coast and its gulf, Levanto is also a well-known location for surfing enthusiasts, whose equipment can be purchased or rented in local shops..

The Levanto valley boasts a network of trails and mule tracks ideal for hiking, with some also designed for mountain biking. A spectacular 5 km cycle/pedestrian path begins from the Levanto seafront. It passes through old railway tunnels that open onto glimpses of the sea and small beaches, connecting Levanto to the nearby towns of Bonassola and Framura.
